Janet Sparks, of NFP, was one of many "family farmers" to attend a debate held at Minnesota State University. Panelists and activists were set in trying to discredit what they call "factory farming".
Farmers voiced there concerns and frustrations that the panel presented only one side of the story.“Can you people stop calling it factory farming? This is still family farming,” said Janet Sparks at the event. Sparks, of Ceylon in Martin County, is human resources director for New Fashion Pork, headquartered in Jackson.
Thank you Janet and farmers for taking the time to attend and educate the panelists and attendees with the truth about hog farming.
Minnesota has 3,300 pig farms and 98 percent are family owned, according to the Minnesota Pork Producers Association.
